Craig is a punctual person who loves routine. He likes getting to work
early and having time to focus his thoughts and organize himself for
his day. He usually leaves home by 9am each day and is greeted by the
children with happy cheers of “Daddy Craig!” and at least one child
jumping on him wanting a good laugh, hug or to be carried around the
house to look at things on the wall. :) Most days he is able to take a
few minutes to oblige these requests before settling into the office.
And by office, I mean folding table set up in the education/computer
room at the Children’s Home. Some days Craig has to try to sneak past
the children to be able to get right to work because there are messages
to be answered as soon as possible. You see, Craig is the
Communications Manager and Campus Pastor along with being a father
figure to 20+ children. Craig helps take a huge load off of our
director, Claire, by managing the dozens of messages that come in each
day from the website and Facebook pages of the ministry. Craig answers
most questions and re-directs others. He also is re-working our
communication methods such as creating more secure and professional
e-mails and Skype accounts.
Craig helps children make Skype calls with their adoptive parents
that they have been matched with while they wait for them to be able to
come and get them. (Legal paperwork makes it about a 6 month wait).
What a blessing it is to help establish their relationship before they
meet in person for the first time! When there is extra time, Craig
works on editing and re-writing or creating the ministry’s documents.
Things like the website, brochures, handbooks, adoption week checklists,
etc… Additionally, Craig provides spiritual leadership through weekly
adult devotions and twice a week teen devotions. He also coordinates
the staff led devotions and special guest devotion leaders.
The best part of Craig’s job is being a father figure. As all of you
parents know, it is not easy but it is very rewarding. We are part of a
team of parents and so while there are currently 23 in the Children’s
Home, we share the load with others. Craig is really good at helping
with math and grammar studying in the upper grades and with helping to
discipline and hold the children to the boundaries given them. He is
also the best at big warm hugs and encouraging words. Playing soccer on
Saturday mornings has been an excellent way to connect with the older
boys and work off all that extra rice.
Thank you for supporting Craig in this work through your prayers and support.
